default
Posted on Mon, 29 Dec 2014
Question: Dear Doctor,

I had earlier written to you with regards to thickened endometrium. I was previously also diagnosed of a borderline ovarian tumor. As I had informed you, I had undergone D & C. My biopsy report has come and it is uploaded.

Please kindly let me know your opinion. Also, what should be my treatment or course of action.

Thank you,

Brief Answer:
REPORT IS NORMAL.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Have gone through the report, it was updated just now by the team.
There is absolutely nothing to worry.
There is no suggestion of cancer or even endometrial hyperplasia.
There is evidence of a small polyp ( local proliferation of the uterine lining ) and a small fibroid, both of which have been removed.
So there is nothing to worry.
The spotting and menstrual problems should be resolved now.
The biopsy report is just fine.
Hope that reassures you.
Do ask away if there is anything else troubling you.
Take care.

Dear Doctor,
I was wondering if there are any reasons to get this polyp and a fibroid. Also, the doctor here told me that she would like to keep a close watch on the polyp so she wants to check me every once in 3 months. I do not know why she has this concern.
The spotting has stopped now, which is a very big relief for me.
Awaiting to hear from you.
Thank you,

Brief Answer:
EXPLAINED

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
See, hormonal imbalance causes thickening of the lining of the uterus.
When it is confined to one specific place, a polyp results.
Fibroid also is overgrowth of local tissue.
Both are hormone dependent conditions and occur due to estrogen excess.
They can happen to anybody, and they are like small boils or growths anywhere else in the body .
The concern is because polyps are known to recur, so it might grow back in a few months' time.
Hope this reassures you now.

Dear Doctor,

Hello again!

Just yesterday I had told you that my spotting had stopped. Unfortunately, today again I have noticed spotting with vaginal mucus when I was in the toilet. It is so light that it can be seen only on the toilet roll.

I am really surprised and puzzled.

My last period was on 12 - 15 Nov 2014. Followed by D & C on 18 Nov, which was followed by light bleeding and spotting from 19 - 27 Nov. Now, my spotting started again.

Your inputs and advice would really help me.

Thank you,

Brief Answer:
A COUPLE OF CYCLES TO STABILIZE THE BLEEDING

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
After the procedure, give yourself a couple of cycles for the spotting to stabilize.
The polyp has been removed, also the fibroid, but you CAN expect a miminal residual degree of spotting still.
Dont worry.

Brief Answer:
TRY AND MAINTAIN A MENSTRUAL DIARY

Detailed Answer:
Sure, do that.
It is quite possible to forget dates of sporadic spotting.
Maintain a meticulous diary starting with your regular periods right before the spotting issue, till date and henceforth.
That would help you to approach me or any other doctor the next time round.
Take care.
