Question: I think I snapped my penile frenulum completely before few years. Since then I think I have issues with erections. I am married now and I didnt have any issues with erections for 1.5 years but lately my penis went soft during sex for couple of time and after that it is very hard for me to get erection now. my question is that does torn frenulum cause erectile dysfunction?

Brief Answer:
In case of internal injury it is possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. While snapping if any internal injury happened then there is possibility of erectile dysfunction due to that. In such case a consultation with urologist for detailed examination and ultrasound of penis should be done to rule out that.

Do you had normal erections after the injury? If yes then most likely your problem can be due yo anxiety or performance anxiety.
Are you getting erections while sleeping or in the early morning?
If you getting normal erections while sleeping or early mornings then you should be organically fine.
Problem with anxiety can be managed by relaxing exercises like breathing exercise and behavioral therapy with psycologist.
If that is not helping then drugs of SSRI group like dapoxetine or Phosphodiesterase inhibitors like tadalafil will be helpful.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

Thank you doctor for replying. I do get morning erections but they are not regular. sometime I have very hard morning erections and sometimes I dont have it. Also, what kind of internal damage might have happened due to frenulum snapping? I do feel that sensitivity is little less than before and after I got married I didnt have erection issues so far. What could have caused it now?

Brief Answer:
Most likely Psycological due to anxiety.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your follow up query.

As you getting hard erections in morning organic damage of penis is very unlikely. And your problem can be most likely psycological like due to anxiety or stress.
Possibility of damage was hematoma or rupture of tissues inside. That is most unlikely as you getting morning erections.

Get enough stress relaxation. You can do breathing exercises. Relax whole body and take deep breaths. Get enough physical exercise daily. Take aphrodisiac foods like eggs , oysters, sea foods or meat and citrus fruits. Enough foreplay by your partner also will be helpful.

If all these not helping then behavioral therapy with a psycologist will be helpful. If that is also not helping then drug therapy like Dapoxetine or tadalafil prior to intercourse will help.

Also check your blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels as high levels of those also can cause erection problems.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

Hello Doctor thank you for replying. My concern is about sensitivity. I feel like sensitivity is reduced after frenulum was snapped. will that affect erections? if it will, what is the solution to this?

Brief Answer:
Decrease sensitivity can cause some amount of decreased arousal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.

Decrease sensitivity can cause some amount of decreased arousal. This may cause less frequent erections also. But it won't effect erection much.

This can be due to some nerve weakness or partial damage which had occured.

For this taking Vitamin B1 and B12 or methylcobalamin will be helpful. Use loose underwear. Avoid wearing underwear while sleeping.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

Thank you doctor for replying.

So you are saying I will not have any issues regarding erections during sex because of frenulum snapped ? Even with less sensitivity as i mentioned earlier erections and ejaculations will not be affected?

Brief Answer:
It can affect arousal due to touching.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.

Thank you for your follow up query.

Less sensitivity can cause less arousal due to touching and fondling that area. In that way it decreases possibility of erections. But it won't affect your general erection capability or ejaculation. In case of decreasing sensitivity ejaculation time will be increased only.
Less sensitivity is seen improving by taking supplements vitamin b1 and methylcobalamin also.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
