Suggest Treatment For Intermittent Sharp Pain In Knee

Question: I have an intermittent sharp almost electoral pain in my knee. It happens about 3 times a day in close succession and then not again until the next day. I've not been injured. It's been going on for a week.

I understand your concern.

After reading your symptoms you possibly seem to have knee paraesthesias. Please describe the pain in detail and upload any reports if available so that I am better able to help you.

In all such cases, it is very important to rule out peripheral neuropathy and vasculopathy. Screening for Diabetes is important. Colour Duplex Doppler ultrasound is the main investigation to evaluate the blood vessels at the back of the knee. Nerve function tests are not initially needed.

There can be knee joint related causes as well. Further management is based on test results. See an orthopedic surgeon to rule out knee joint related causes.
