I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Based on MRI finding I would recommend a knee replacement. Though a major surgery, it is safe and routinely performed at super speciality hospital.
Hope this information suffices.
Take care

What would make your recommendation to a full knee replacement vs a partial knee and are the tears repaired at the time of surgery ? I am 55 years old, is that to young for a total knee replacement. I would rather have a full functioning knee now than at 80 !
Brief Answer:
Total knee replacement is recommended
Detailed Answer:
Hello
It's good to see you.
I have gone throug your MRI report which suggest big cartilage defect at patella and femur bone these finding along with enchondroma are indication for total knee replacement rather than partial. In total knee all the soft tissue like menesci are removed and are not repaired.
I can understand your dilemma but the decision should be based on knee joint condition ,pain and age is not the criteria. You will have good range of motion with latest high flexion knee implants.
Hope this answers your query.
Regards
