Suggest Treatment For Loose Stool In A Child

Management depend upon severity of disease; please see details
Detailed Answer:
Hello
My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.
I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. There could be two ways your daughter can be managed.
First, if she is:
- not having severe diarrhea
- not unconscious
- able to eat and drink
THEN:
> Give her ORS solution after every loose motion.
> Sporlac lactic acid powder
> Zinc Supplement suspension - it helps in controlling diarrhea.
> Foods that should help include:
- Boiled potatoes
- Toast
- Plain crackers such as saltines
- Pieces of Baked chicken without any skin or fat
AVOID:
- Milk, butter, ice cream, and cheese
- fatty food
Second, if she is:
- having multiple episodes of loose motions
- having pus or blood in stool
- unable to eat or drink properly
- vomiting after intake
- have altered consciousness
THEN:
she needs to be taken to nearest hospital/clinic for management because children suffer from dehydration faster than adults and this can be dangerous. In such situation it is not advised to treat them at home.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing her good health !!
