Suggest Treatment For Metastatic Colon Cancer Which Is Not Responding To Xeloda
Question: Metastic colon cancer has not responded to xeloda or irinotecan , and more mets have appeared and existing ones grew , is this cancer chemo resistant and aggressive ?

I can appreciate your concern for the unresponsiveness to the chemotherapy.
Xeloda (capecitabine) & Irinotecan are most effective anti cancer drugs for treating metastatic colorectal cancer.
In view of the unresponsiveness and the appearance of the metastases, it is quite evident that the above mentioned drugs are not effective in this case, which appears to be due to the poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma and the advanced stage of the cancer.
Kindly take an opinion of the expert oncologist in this field.

But his waz a mderatley differentiated one.
And was stage 3 in nov 2013.
Xloda was given after surgery and irinotecan alone ( 4 cycles) after the mets seen.

Poorly differentiated (high-grade) colon cancers tend to be more aggressive than well and moderately differentiated colon cancers. However, other factors are also important, such as how far the cancer has spread (which cannot be determined on the biopsy).
Oxaliplatin combined with infusional fluorouracil and leucovorin (FOLFOX)
found to be more effective in treating patients with metastatic colon cancer.

Ok if that works woong with procedure called sirt/ ablation is that better?
Also i wAnted to ask, in august only 1 liver met found of 1.5 cm and the node.
Irinotecan started. After 4 rounds scan done and:
Liver mer now 4 cm
Node grew by 0.5 cm
New sub pleural nodule
Irinotecan stopped and dr said no further treatment.
Scan in march ( now) shows
Liver met now 6.7 cm
Plus 7 extra mets on liver
This recent scan was done by second opinion dr.
Is this not strange to suddenly hsve extra 7 liver mets?
Does this mean irinotecan worked to an extent before or not at all?
