Suggest Treatment For Mild Cellulitis On The Toes

Question: I wore a pair of new Birkenstock sandals on Saturday (July 30), they have a strap between the big toe and the second toe. I did not do a lot of walking in them but I did go up and down a flight of stairs a few times. Yesterday morning, I could walk ok as the day progressed I can't walk without pain and it hurts on the ball of my foot, right behind those two toes. My foot is also slightly swollen.
Brief Answer:
It could be mild cellulitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Due to trauma/irritation of the strap, you might have developed slight infection and associated inflammation.
Apart from Ibuprofen, Ice pack and foot elevation, you should also use an Antibiotic. I prescribe Antibiotic like Amoxycillin with clauvulanic acid 500mg twice daily for 5 days to my patients.
Avoid that new sandal.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
