Suggest Treatment For Nigh Sweats While Suffering From Flu Like Symptoms

Question: I am a 57 year old woman. I've had flu-like symtoms for several days...body aches, sore throat, cold, sore glands, etc. I've also had severe night sweats since this started. I am feeling better now, but I'm still having the night sweats. I will wake up drenched more than once during the night. I had a low grade fever for one day, but it's normal now. I am always terrified of cancer. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Please provide more information
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
please specify the duration of the symptoms and any other symptoms you may have. If your symptoms have started less than 7-8 days before then this can be attributed to the flu you've mentioned. If you're having night sweats for a long time, particularly if you've also noticed weight loss or other symptoms then more investigation would be needed.
I'll be waiting for you input.

The flu symtoms started about four days ago and the night sweats started at the same time. I am kind of worried because my flu symtoms are much better, but the night sweats have continued. I am also having some left shoulder blade pain, but I was assuming it is from carrying my three month granddaughter around. What do you think?
Brief Answer:
4 days is not a long time
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
having night sweats is normal when you have fever or when you're in the recovery phase of an infectious disease. When the fever goes down the patient sweats. The higher the fever, the more the sweating. Sometimes this may go on even during the recovery phase (that is without fever).
The flu commonly lasts for 3-5 days but it may last for up to 8 days, so 4 days is not a long time.
Regarding your shoulder pain: if the pain gets worse by moving your arm then this is probably a problem for an orthopedics specialist. If you get the pain when you take deep breaths (and you can't complete your breath because of the pain) then this could be a sign of pneumonia and you should have an X-ray right away.
I hope I've helped!
