Suggest Treatment For Pain In Buttock And Legs During Exercising

Question: I am 72 in good health , hike and work out at gym. A week ago I increased the weight on my leg lifts and I felt a twinge of pain but kept going. A day after, I started to feel pain in my right buttocks. Now a week later. It hurts a lot when I XXXXXXX forwarder and/or go to sit down. The pain is in my right buttocks. I can walk fine without pain. It is just the bendingb, sitting, and twisting at the hip that hurts. What is the most likely cause and what should I do? XXXXXXX

I am so sorry to hear about this pain. .From the information you have provided, you probably suffered a muscle tear. I will recommend that you no longer increase the weights right now and in future do so at a more gentle and slower pace. Rest and pain medications such as Tylenol and ibuprofen would help address the while the muscle heals. Avoid posture and movements that provoke the pain for now as it may delay complete healing.
