Suggest Treatment For Pain In Pelvic Bone And Rib Cage

default
Posted on Mon, 29 Sep 2014
Question: On Wednesday I noticed an uncomfortable pain on my right side. It starts at my pelvic bone, and goes up into my rib cage. It is about five fingers to the right of my belly button, and just all over that side. It's most uncomfortable when I am sitting down, I feel my ribs kind of pop, the pain isn't bad, it's just more uncomfortable. I don't know what it could be. Then this morning I woke up with a strange pinkish rash, little pink bumps on the right side of my abdomen, I don't know if it's from touching that general area because of the discomfort or what, but the dots are concertrated on the lower right side and then there are stray dots all over my abdomen. They disappear when I touch them though. The pain is also in my back a little and all along my rib cage.

I used to run quite a bit, and in the last week and a half I have started running more. The pain doesn't happen when I run, but I was wondering if maybe I could have tweaked something? I run about 5 kilometers each run at a 6.5 minutes/kilometer pace...the popping and weak feeling on that rib cage is just so uncomfortable!

Brief Answer:
Rectus muscle strain

Detailed Answer:
HI, Madam,

I Have carefully read your query and understand your concern.

The sudden onset of abdominal pain in your case is most likely to be muscular in origin in my opinion.

The muscle which seems to be chiefly affected is rectus abdominis.
This condition is known as Athletic Pubalgia.

This condition needs muscle rest and simple analgesics like Diclofenac sodium100 mg on as and when required basis under strict medical supervision.

In most cases the condition resolves spontaneously with rest.

In case if the condition does not resolve spontaneously,i advice you to have an ultrasound or MRI abdomen to rule out Muscle tear.

The pinkish rash has to be specially addressed in your case as you belong to post splenectomy status.

There is a risk of platelet dysfunction on long term.

These spots could be minor skin bleeds called petechiae.

I recommend you to have complete blood picture study with bleeding and clotting time.

I also recommend you to limit the intensity and duration of your regular physical exercise.

I hope this info is helpful to you.

Thank you
