Question: My 8 yr old daughter chipped one of her molars a couple of weeks ago, since its a baby tooth ,we didn't seek treatment.I was helping her get ready for bed night before last and was holding her face and she said oww that hurts. She told me her gum hurt.I looked in her mouth and saw a boil in her mouth. She didn't tell me about it and said it had been there for about a week.is there anything I can do until I can get her an appointment at the dentist or anyway I can treat at home?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your question it is looking like your daughter has a boil on the gum that is painful but there is a bit of doubt as you said that the boil is in mouth..
So please make it a bit clear that is the boil present over the gum?
If yes, is the boil is on the gum that is present under the chipped tooth?
Is there pain also present in the chipped tooth?
Is there any swelling present on the face too?
If possible please upload an image of the boil for better understanding..
Hope this helps..
Regards..

Yes,it,is in her mouth at the gumline, there is some swelling. No pain in the tooth itself
Brief Answer:
Abscess formation
Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome back..
As per your complain it seems that the infection has reached below the root tips of the tooth that is leading to pus formation and formation of an abscess..
You need to consult a Pedodontist and get an x-ray of the tooth done and if the roots have not resorbed then Pulpectomy treatment has to be done..
Otherwise antibiotics and pain relievers will be given..
As o now you can give her Ibuprofen or Paracetamol for pain relief..
You can also apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over the gum but be precise to apply only over the boil..
Make her do warm saline gargles..
Hope this helps..
