Suggest Treatment For Periodic Bouts Of Fever

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Oct 2014
Question: Been suffering periodic bouts with fever for the past 6-8 months. No other cold/flu like symptoms occur simultaneously. Fever lasts about 2 days. Low grade 99.1 in the first few hours and as high as 101.5. Sometimes I get it every three weeks or so, then nothing for about two to three months then recently twice within one week. I haven't traveled out of the country at all. I also experience periodic bouts with what feels like ulcers every two to three days on average but pain is not to bad. Usually take an acid reducer and the pain subsides.

Brief Answer:
Needs detailed evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HCM forum.

I am feeling sad that, for 8 months, you have not gone for a medical evaluation for this.
Unexplained recurrent fever needs evaluation to find out the underlying cause and treat accordingly.
Most commonly they are caused by chronic infections like tuberculosis, brucellosis etc.Suche cases can be treated with appropriate antibiotics.
Other important conditions to be ruled out include Human immuno deficiency virus infection, hematological conditions like lymphoma, and some chronic inflammatory disorders.

This need a detailed systemic examination followed ny some investigations.
Kindly see your physician without further delay.
You may be asked for investigations like blood routine,ESR,urine routine, blood culture etc.

Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.
Thank you.
