Question: I have pain in my left knee that started 3 weeks ago after doing some work squatting up and down for 2 or 3 hours. There is swelling and pain. Walking seems to agitate it even more. Should I see a doctor? What over the counter pain medicine would be recommended?
Thanks, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Should see orthopedist as soon as possible;do not move your knee till then.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I am sorry for what happened to you.

You are reporting to have:
- pain in your left knee
- pain started 3 weeks ago
- swelling of the knee
- walking seems to agitate it more

From what you are reporting, I advise to go and see and orthopedist as soon as possible. You might have torn meniscus or other knee problems. An X-ray of the knee is needed to evaluate such changes.

Applying alternating cold and warm compresses can be useful until you see a specialist.
Take anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen, acetaminophen, etc. ; to ease the pain.
Avoid movement of the knee until you see the orthopedist.

Wish fast recovery!
