I have pain in the two knees, so any problem with the meniscus? What is the treatment recommended?
Are really the join space is very bad?
Are really the join space is very bad?
Brief Answer:
Menisci are normal.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The pain in the knees can be due to reduced joint lubricants and mild reduction in joint spaces.
Menisci are intact. It is best to start with joint lubricant supplements like glucosamine for relief.
In the meanwhile, for symptomatic relief:
1. Give enough rest to your knee- use a knee brace.
2. Take mild pain killers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
3. Stronger prescription NSAIDS with muscle relaxants may help if simple analgesics do not help.
4. Hot compresses to your knee will be useful pain relieving measure. You may apply a local analgesic gel on that area.
5. calf and hamstring stretches can be helpful under the guidance of a physiotherapist after the acute pain subsides completely.
Hope my answer is helpful.

So my real question is: whats the degree of joint space reduction? Mild medium severe?? And how steroid injection can works?
Brief Answer:
Medium degree.
Detailed Answer:
The joint space reduction is medium. It is not severe. A steroid injection will help in decreasing the inflammation and pain but it will not provide a permanent solution to your problem. It will provide relief for 6-8 weeks. Regular exercise and joint lubricant supplements are the only way to retard such degenerative changes.
