Question : I have a a mild case of phimosis. I am able to retract the foreskin when my penis is flacid and when erect, though the later is a lot more difficult. I heard there are some steroid creams that can help. Which creams are useful to help stretch the foreskin and how should they be applied? What are the realistic results of applying such creams?

                                    Brief Answer:
No creams for partial phimosis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM.
As Urologist, I must advise you, not to try any creams for phimosis.
From your description, you seem to have only a partial phimosis.
The best routine to follow is, while bathing daily, stretch the foreskin backwards.
Gradually, it may become free, and retract even during erections.
You may also use vaseline cream before masturbation or intercourse.
Keep in mind, some tightening during erection, is normal, so as to maintain erection.
Phimosis is a condition, where the foreskin can't be retracted at all over the shaft.
Hope your worry is over and wish you good health.
Regards

I was under the impression that stretching can tear the skin and that steroid creams increase the rate of healing so that the process works faster. Is this not the case or what is the reason for avoiding creams?
You recommended Vaseline cream, but what about when using a condom for intercourse? Is is safe to use a water based lubricant insider a condom?

                                    Brief Answer:
Partial phimosis isn't treated with steroid creams.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Read my answer again. Streching is to be done very gradually.
If you do it forcibly, the foreskin can tear. Never do that.
That's the reason, it was advised for doing it while bathing.
Vaseline ointment is without side-effects. It may be used with lubricant condoms.
Steroid creams are not without side-effects. It may even worsen the phimosis.
As you've only partial phimosis, don't worry about it.
If you've difficulty or pain during intercourse, see a doctor and get an expert opinion.
Wish you well.
