Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Pain
It almost feels like as if I have been punched it is persistent
I have a surgery scar on that same spot due to VP shunting
I want to know if that might be the problem
CT Scan is the best option. MEFTAL tablets will stop the pain right now.

Hi!
Abdominal pain is known as visceral pain.
This sort of pain is usually persistent.
Given the fact that a procedure has been performed in the past, we can easily diagnose and blame it on the shunt.
I would be more careful and rather I would recommend a CT Scan of the abdomen to be on the safe side.
Beyond this investigation, even a routine examination of your abdomen by a doctor would not yield a more positive or conclusive result.
I hope you can spend a little time in the CT Scan machine, because it is really worth the time, money and energy spent according to me.
Most doctors would recommend this line of action.
In the meantime, please take some Mefenamic acid and Dicyclomine tablets for immediate relief of the pain, until the CT is performed and we are better informed of the underlying problem, so that we can take precise measures.
Thanks,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar.
It was different but also persistent
It would not allow me to bend down or move without pain
Possible myalgia of rectus abdominis. Advised to take NSAID cocktail.

Hi!
This is good news - the fact that it occurred a month back. This means that the issue that is causing the pain is not serious in nature or else it would have deteriorated. You mention not being able to perform range of motion movements without pain and discomfort. I strongly suspect that this is the after effect of the shunt intervention. I asked you to undergo a CT Scan of the entire abdomen to rule out other causes with a 100% accuracy rate. I strongly feel that you must take a palliative medicine that temporarily halts the pain, so you are put at a state of physical ease, before you plan your next move. I recommend a combination of these 3 drugs Ibuprofen, Mefenamic acid and Dicyclomine. These drugs in combination are very powerful and halt the visceral pain which you describe as a feeling of being punched hard.
Feel free to write back.
Thanks for asking,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar
CT Scan of abdomen: A good decision.
Detailed Answer:
Hi!
It's not perhaps how long the shunt has been in place, rather what issues can be revealed on the CT Scan, so we know what the problem is and we can treat you better so you can get better soon.
Thanks for your queries,
