Suggest Treatment For Severe Back And Neck Pain

default
Posted on Tue, 8 Nov 2016
Question: I have had severe left back neck pain since March of this year. I had my doctor check my lymph nodes which were fine. It's a constant pain that does not go awayl!!! I have been in pain for months . I also have issues with my elbows x-rays came back negative. Blood test done for rheumatoid arthritis came back negative. And I just had a baker's cyst aspirated from my right knee which continues to be painful. Could this be an early onset of some type of arthritis? I do know a bit of medical terminology as I have worked in the medical field for many many years. Thank you

Brief Answer:
degenerative disk disease

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are having so much pain from your neck. The most common cause of neck pain is over use or posture issues. If you work on a computer all day then the position of your computer and keyboard may be contributing to the pain. If this is not the case then you may have early degenerative disk disease of the cervical spine. X rays and CT scans or MRI of the neck will help diagnose this problem. Degenerative disk disease is just a function of getting older. The disks between the vertebra start to wear out and cause pain. The treatment is physical therapy massage therapy and medication. You can also try alternating heat and ice packs. I also recommend regular aerobic exercise of any type. Exercise just helps increase general blood flow and improve muscle strength.
