Hi i am Dr Ahmed Aly
thanks for using HealthcareMagic site ,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns ..

In my opinion you may have a kind of sciatica due to nerve compression , in mild cases it could subsides simultaneously even without medication .
From your given history you mentioned taking naproxen and tizanidine , which is fine and will help in most of cases for my patients i may add some B12 vitamin supplementation which will help in such neuropathic pain with your analgesic and muscle relaxants will help with your pain .
In your case you may ask your physician to add steroids in tabs or injection forms but you mention having asthma issues so you have to ask your doctor before using them for you low back pain . a new MRI is recommended to rule anykind of spinal injuries like disc or herniation .
Most patients have very good results from hot massages with topical gel , spinal straightening exercises , physiotherapy with a chiropractor ,will be effective in most of cases .
many researches mentioned that 6 months of steroid therapy will help in reducing your pain if fail a neurosurgeon point of view may be needed for minor endoscopic interventions or even surgical procedures may be needed to relief pain .
For now you may try the physical exercises and physiotherapy and try to decrease your weight , avoid heavy lifting and vigorous exercises , avoid bad sleeping and sitting postures .

Detailed Answer:
You mentioned taking medications for 4 months try to follow previous instructions and you may ask your doctor for proper dosing of steroid and hot massages with topical gels , this will allow you to avoid any kind of surgical interventions .
physiotherapy and spinal straightening exercises are the main treatment if fail , then try medical therapy .
if you still can not withstand your back pain and that interfere with your normal daily activities or general appearance and your exercises and medications fail i recommend a new MRI and a neurological point of view for minor endoscopic interventions to free your nerve compression is of a good value .
