Brief Answer:
if vomiting persists injection may be needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr XXXXXXX

Cold and cough in this age group is mostly viral in origin. If he vomits all the medication then it won't work. Even vomiting may cause dehydration.

I have some queries
1) Whether he has been vaccinated for flu
2) Is he school going
3) Is there anyone in your family or neighborhood suffering from cold and cough
4)Is he vomiting medication only or vomiting everything he is taking orally

Levolin relieves spasm of airway. XXXXXXX contains some antiallergic. Coscopin is cough sup present and it should be avoided in children. Even zincold has almost same composition as that of XXXXXXX

So many cough syrups and even with the same composition at a time, not justified.

I would suggest you to give paracetamol for fever. Give levolin, ondem and alex(or zincold) syrup.Antibiotic bpodex has been started already so you can continue(although antibiotic has no role in viral infection). If he is vomiting excessively injection of ondem or other antiemetic may be needed to prevent dehydration. Give him plenty of fluids to keep him hydrated.Avoid coscopin as it is a cough suppressant.

Consult your physician for proper evaluation as severe cough may be due to bronchospasm which may need nebulisation.Discuss for the need for investigation of swine flu if he has not been vaccinated or vaccinated less than 14 days before and also for the oseltamivir (prophylaxis or treatment of swine flu).

Get me back with the answers. You can ask me any further query if you have.

Regards

Hello doctor,
Thanks for your respond.following are the requested details:
1)He has been not vaccinated for flu.
2)yes he is school going.
3)No one is suffering from cold and cough in family/neighbor.
4)He doesn't vomit for entire day but does at night and he vomits everything.
Do you think that it might be beginning of H1N1 as symptoms are pretty similar.

Thank you!

Brief Answer:
H1N1 should be ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr XXXXXXX

I have checked your location. Even city XXXXXXX has so many swine flu cases. And yes symptoms are quite similar to those of swine.

This is not to make you panic but as children, elderly, persons suffering from chronic diseases are more vulnerable (not vaccinated) I would suggest you to consult your physician for proper evaluation.

Regards
