Suggest Treatment For Severe Groin Pain
Anyway, the node may be slightly different than the other side but they pretty much feel the same to me, its that close.
Im wondering if a groin muscle, tendon or ligament strain could feel like a lymph node causing pain or even actually affect one.
Its definetly not obviously swollen or anything else i can really feel.
He said hes noticed pain there before over the last year diring sports.
Other than the pain ( which is maybe a 2-3 out of 10, if that)
he has no other issues or symptoms like fever or feeling ill.
Wondering whats up
Thanks
Most probably a groin sprain.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your son - high school athlet - pain in groin with little bump - no other symptoms - location of a lymph node - similar pain last year during sports ...
This looks more of groin sprain due to adductor sprain as it was present last year too.
Simple test of adduction that is putting together the thighs against resistance or overstretching by pulling away both the legs can increase pain or discomfort proves this to be a groin sprain.
This will not cause the lymph node to enlarge and lymph node involvement usually does not elicit pains on such movements.
Clinical evaluation by an Orthopedic Surgeon or a Physiotherapist can help further for diagnosis.
Lymph node can be confirmed by Ultrasound and FNAC done if required.

He did well and said he did not feel any pain during play.
Afterward he said it was very slightly sore but it didnt bother him.
He has remained able to walk at a normal pace without discomfort throughout his time with the injury. He only noticed it when doing extreme movment like sprinting or lateral bursts during basketball. Im under the impression that it must have been a low grade sprain, if at all because he was never at the point of being unable to play, only tenderness. After the 1 week, and even beforehe seems to be 100%.
What do you think
Mild groin sprain

Thanks for your feedback.
As discussed above the most probable diagnosis is groin sprain, albeit in mild form, hence he has recovered well.
