Suggest Treatment For Severe Itchy Rashes On Body
In severe winter I used a heater constantly. Put on a lot of warm clothes. Suddenly I broke out with a severe allergy which spread all over my body. I have been using diprovate plus on advise of a dermatologist. Till the effect of the lotion lasts it stops itching. But now have developed dark webby scabs on some parts specially on my legs. What other medication should I take to get rid of this allergy. In a airconditoned atmosphere everything get aggrivated.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have gone through your query and I have understood your concern.
You seem to have developed Infected Eczematous Dermatitis. The underlying factor being severe dryness of skin with itching.
Scratching leading on to eczematization and secondary bacterial infection i.e oozing and crusting/ scabbing.
I would like to confirm this possibility if you can please upload a few Images of the affected areas on skin

If I was the treating doctor I would have added an Oral Antibiotic. My choice of Oral antibiotics would be either cloxacillin Or amoxycillin Or cephalexin for a week.
I would also like to add an oral antihistamine for symptomatic relief from itching e.g cetrizine 10 mg tablet, once or twice daily
Diprovate plus is a potent topical steroid (betamethasone dipropionate 0.05% cream). Topically you may continue with diprovate plus, twice daily.
Along with these, a short course of an Oral steroid e.g Prednisolone, for 10 days to 2 weeks, is also a good choice to start with.
It would bring about rapid improvement in eczematous dermatitis as compared to topical steroid alone.
Oral steroids and Oral antibiotics are prescription medications, therefore, I suggest that you revisit your doctor for a review clinical examination and for the needful.
You can share my opinion with your treating doctor.
