Suggest Treatment For Severe Jaw Pain And Swelling In Lip
Question: Hello! I've had some pain in my right side of mouth/jaw. I wouldn't say it's a toothache because it isn't localized to a one particular tooth. It feels almost like intense pressure and was quite painful today. The pain is less intense this evening but I started to swell above my lip and beside my nose. I'm icing it a lot. There is no puss or drainage. I've taken ibuprofen for the pain and swelling. As far as I can tell I have no fever. What is wrong? Any concern? I'm planning on going to see a doctor tomorrow. Thank you!

I was just wondering why the essential oils, orajel, and salt water swishing? Do you have any lesion or ulcer in the mouth?
The chronology of development of pain, swelling is suggestive of an infection in the area. Hence needs a proper treatment with antibiotic; you are already taking advil. I would suggest starting antibiotic treatment also.
This looks to be a case of cellulitis due to infection. The formation of the pus takes 2-3 days if the antibiotic is not taken. Hence I would advise you to visit the Doctor as soon as possible so that a proper antibiotic treatment can be started and a proper careful examination to see the cause of origin.

There are no mouth sores that I could see. I used salt water and other treatments thinking I had an abscess tooth...and to help with the pain.
What type of antibiotic would you recommend that is easy on the stomach (as I am really sensitive to medications and get upset stomach taking medications due to an ulcer in my stomach)?

There are antacids with pantaprazole, antacids and probiotics to counter the ill-effects as antibiotic can cause such problems yet most important to have cure.
Antibiotics can be prescribed by your Doctor as you need a valid prescription.
