Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2015
Question: hi, I have had tendonitis in my shoulder for about 2 months, it has gotten better. I am able reach my arm behind my head, scratch my back and brush my hair pain free. When I reach my arm above my head there is a slight pain almost like a pinch. Like I said i have been dealing with this for about 8 weeks any idea when i might be pain free. Also if it was a torn rotator cuff would i be able to do those things.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have read your query.
8 weeks is sufficient time for healing.
You may require 4 weeks more for complete healing.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and Tens along with matrix therapy may help in early recovery.
For rotator cuff injury you may need MRI to see grade of tear.
If rotator cuff injury was grade 1 or 2 then you can do all activities again.
If required you may need arthroscopic repair if rotator cuff tear is grade 3 to 6.
I hope I have answered your questions. If you have further questions please feel free to contact us. I will be happy to answer. Take care.

Hello

Yes you can sleep on shoulder but overhead abduction is not easily possible.

So there will be difficulty in combing hairs.

If it is a partial tear can it heal on it's own or does it always require surgery
