I've been having nasal and chest congestion producing yellow mucus for about *
8 weeks. I 've been taking allegra D but its only partially effective. Thought it might be seasonal allergies but now wondering if it could an infection. It just won't go away.

It sounds more like allergies than infection from what you have said. However, if you have fevers or shortness of breath then you should see a doctor for an evaluation. If you want to try adding some other treatments to get some relief I suggest that you add a nasal steroid like Flonase and frequent use of nasal saline. Both of these can be bought at the pharmacy without a prescription.
You may also want to change to plain Allegra since the decongestant in Allegra D is not good to take for a prolonged period of time.
