Question: I cut my foot yesterday, I washed it, and later put Trip AntiboticCream on it. And again this morning. But, I have had my shoes on all day and when I got home tonight, it was swollen and red from the side of the cut to the ball of my foot. Also, when I took the bandaid off, it tore off some skin on the ball of my foot, and bled a lot. I have bad circulation to my legs and feet, and I have had celluitous on my leg previously.
Should I wait until the morning to see a doctor, and if so, should i keep it elevated?
Brief Answer:
Yes...There is no emergency to go in right now!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this cut that you sustained. Have you had a complete tetanus vaccination? If not, I will suggest that your doctors administer a shot tetanus prevention.
I have taken a look at the attached image, there is no need to rush to the hospital right now. You can wait till morning before going for evaluation. It is a very minute cut and but for the past history of cellulitis and poor circulation, I could have asked you not to get bothered seeking immediate medical attention right now.
There is no need in raising the leg right now. Applying ice packs and taking some pain medications would help relief the pains and swelling. Elevation would not offer any help right now.
Please, remember to keep this wound airy and clean throughout healing, avoiding putting on covered shoes and if permitted, use open footwear so that you can always air dry the area to facilitate healing.
I hope this helps. I wish you well and thank you so much for using our services. Feel free to ask for more information if need be. Thanks
