Suggest Treatment For Skin Lesions Of Pityriasis Rosea
Need pictures for confirmation
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same .
You have been diagnosed with pityriasis rosea by your treating doctor .
First of all I would like to tell you that pityriasis rosea is a self limiting skin condition . This means that it will follow it's own course inspite of treatment. It takes about four to eight weeks to completely heal even on treatment .
But since you are concerned about scabies as well, I would like to have a look at the exact skin lesions .
Please click some close up pictures of the skin condition and upload them here on this page . You can also mail them at YYYY@YYYY with heading as ref to Dr Geetika Paul .
Also please tell if anyone in your household or family also has similar itching or skin rashes .
I am sure I will be able to help you more once you provide me the above details and the pictures .

Pityriasis rosea , will take time to heal
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
I have seen the attached pictures .
The lesions look like that of pityriasis rosea only.
Now as I have told you earlier that this is basically a self limiting skin condition . This means that we cannot do much to change its course even with treatment .
The skin lesions might keep coming up in crops over the next four to eight weeks which is the normal course of this illness.
You can continue to use topical steroids so as to relieve itching. You can take some oral antihistamine like claritin for the associated itching once a day. In addition, try to keep the skin moisturized by applying moisturizers two to three times a day. This will help in reducing the itching .
The disease might take its own time to completely heal as told. Oral steroids are given mainly for symptomatic relief and they do not alter the course of illness too much.
So the best thing would be to take care of the skin as told.
Hope it helps
Please ask if you need any further clarifications
