Does Fluxoxilin Cause Color Difference In Stool?

Hi there I am on 500mg fluxoxilin. 4T/Daily. ( for around 3 days) for a secondary bacterial infection after scabies I have noticed that my stool is darker dark brownish. I am assuming this is a normal side effect of the drug and will return to normal upon completion of the course correct ?

Hi,

Oh yes. Definitely. It kills off a fair amount of gut / colon bacteria. This just changes things. Stool varies and the color can easily change considerably.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman, Addiction Medicine Specialist
