Suggest Treatment For Skipped Heart Beats And Panic Attacks

There is no risk to your condition as long as you take the medication
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, Hi
Good morning!
I really appreciate your concern towards your problem of having Mitral Valve Prolapse with Aortic Regurgitation.
The prescribed medication Metalor XR (a beta blocker) is very effective in preventing the irregular heartbeats responsible for the palpitation and the panic attacks sometime you get in a month. Continue to take this medication.
Most of the time, mitral valve prolapse is harmless and does not cause any symptoms. However, if you get dizziness, fatigue or shortness of breath with activity or when lying flat you must consult a doctor for further evaluation.
Since you had rheumatic fever at the age of 14 years and have associated Aortic regurgitation (with Mitral Valve Prolapse) in such case Benzathine Penicillin (Penidura) injections are usually prescribed until age 40 years or more.
There is nothing to worry, just relax, Insha Allah everything will be alright.
Hope I could answer your query.

Isometric exercises should be avoided.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, Hi
Good morning!
Thanks for your reply.
1. Regarding the type of exercise recommended, it depends upon the severity of the prolapse and the aortic regurgitation.
Exercise that uses muscle contraction to strengthen and tone your muscles. Isometric exercise usually involves pushing against resistance, as in weight lifting. These types of exercises can elevate your BP, thereby increasing the force against which your heart must pump blood. Such type of exercise should be avoided.
If you have mild to moderate regurgitation and normal heart function, you can participate in normal physical activity like daily walking will help keep your hear healthy. If you want to start being more active, talk to your cardiologist first. Your doctor will help you create a safe exercise plan.
2. Regarding alternate antibiotic to Penidura.
i) Oral Phenoxymethylpenicillin (Penicillin V Potassium) to be taken twice daily
Or
ii) Oral Azithromycin to be taken once daily
I would advise you to talk to your cardiologist before taking these medications as a long term prevention.
Hope this answers your query.
