Brief Answer:
NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,

Thank you for posting the query.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

There are many reasons for legs getting swollen. One of the commonest cause is an injury.

If you have had any trauma, then ligament or bony injury can cause swelling. You need to get an X ray done for that.

If there has been no trauma, then such sudden leg swelling can be due to insect bites, raised uric acid levels ,disturbances in blood cell counts and blood sugar levels etc.

I request you to post a photograph of the swollen leg so that i can pin point the diagnosis and the line of management. Also see whether the swollen area is warm or is it of normal temperature.

Get blood checked for the tests that i have mentioned above.

Till then apply compression bandage, keep the leg elevated, take anti inflammatory tablets like paracetamol or ibuprofen.

Do not apply anything hot / warm to the swollen area.

Application of ice packs will help.

I hope the answer was useful.

Thank you .

Kind regards.
