Brief Answer:
Yes it will take time because of old age and sugar

Detailed Answer:
Hello welcome to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Urinary tract infection is a common problem in old age patients especially if they have Diabetes.

My advice to you is -

1. Continue barley water and antibiotics prescribed by your doctor. They will benefit him only.

2 Go for urine culture report as it will show which bacteria has caused infection and so we can give more effective antibiotics after that.

3. Diabetes control is necessary during infection, I think it's uncontrolled sugar due to which infection is not controlled yet.
Daily do your FBS and PP2BS at least for 1 week.
If needed ask your doctor about insulin for short term, as it will control blood sugar levels better.

4. Excessive fluid intake should be avoided as it will put pressure on heart and second thing it will cause low sodium levels also, which is very common in old age and may be the cause of weakness..

5.So,kindly do urine routine, culture and blood electrolytes and ask your doctor about this.

I hope I have given you satisfactory answer. If you have any questions you are always welcome.
Thank you.
