Suggest Treatment For Varicose Vein Under The Eye
Question: I have a small bump on the skin under my eye that looks like a varicose vein. What could this be?
Brief Answer:
Small trauma
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM to post your question.
I saw carefully your photo.
It looks like you have maybe hit somewhere that area and its a small hematoma. The area under the eyes its very sensitive and just a small trauma may burst the veins and cause small bleedings under the skin. It should start changing color to green, then purple then yellow and should be healed in around 3 weeks.
If not better in 3 weeks, if larger or any other change, then feel free to follow up with me or see a local dermatologist.
Hope this is helpful.

Hi Doctor,
Thanks for your response.
However, it is not a hematoma, as I never hit my face and the bump has been there for several months without changing color. It varies slightly in size from time to time; right now it is somewhat smaller, but it has been small before and then grown again (maybe to about 1.5 times the size).
It feels a little bit hard under the skin.
I don't know exactly how long it has been there, but it has been at least six months since it appeared, and it has not healed.
Thanks for your response.

Brief Answer:
Some possible diagnoses
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the follow up question.
If it is not a hematoma, and from the other extra information you have provided, I would think it is a cyst under the skin or an hemangioma (a benign tumor which its made from the blood vessels mostly).
It may also be a chronic folliculitis (an inflammation of the hair follicle there, which has stacked under the skin and has made it's way to heal chronically).
I don't think it is a cancer, if it is that what you are thinking.
I would say that if it doesn't bother you, then do not pick on it or don't do any procedure. But if either for cosmetic purposes or if it bothers you, then the best way to tell which of the above is, its to examine it and also attempt minor surgery so to remove the cyst, stacked hair follicle or hemangioma.
I hope this made a bit more clear the possible causes or the lesion you have.
Feel free to ask if you have other questions or concerns.
