Suggest Treatment For Wrist Pain

default
Posted on Fri, 8 Jul 2016
Question: Dear Doctor, I was awakened by a stinging in my left wrist. The veins were swollen and knotted. The same, but less so was in my right wrist. One vein was running up my arm and became a thin line and ended half wy up my ar. I returned from a 5 hour flight about30 hours ago. The swellings have now subsided after say, 30 minutes. I am 76 years old.

Should I have any concerns?

Brief Ans-Wrist Pains with Swollen, Knotted Veins / Under Evaluation

Hi,Dear!! Thanks for the query updates to HCM.
Read and reviewed the query facts and feel concerned about your health issues. But Dear,to reply, provided information is incomplete.

Please update details as follows-
Was this the first instance of such a health issue?or you had suffered with these complaints earlier also?
Do You have any neck pains and Cervical spondylitis?
Any obesity issues with high blood lipids?
Were you ever on blood thinners?
For which purpose aspirin was taken by you?
Did the swollen knotted left wrist vein-could be emptied painlessly?

Primary Impression-
Based on given facts, You seem to be suffering from Wrist Pains with engorged veins-mostly from thrombophlebitis, secondary TOS (Thorasic Outlet Syndrome)with changed space dynamics in the neck.
Strenuous flight might have lead to this problem, from obstructed venous drainage of the upper arm.

Other possibilities need to be ruled by Consults with Chest Surgeon
X-ray neck if need be, with cover from your family / specialist doctor, would resolve the causal issue of these veins
