Thank you for writing on health care magic. Well the sort of symptoms are you describing could be due to acute viral illness causing inflammtaion in the muscles which is causing the pain. I would like to ask a few queries to direct you further:
1. Duration of the symptoms?
2. Any accompanying backache?
3. how high is the fever?
4. Does he have difficulty in getting up from the squatting position or the toilet seat?
5. What exactly is the ITP association with?Cause if the disease is due to underlying SLE , then we need to look into the muscles inflammation as well.
Do let me know these queries. Would be happy to guide you further

Brief Answer:
Acute Viral Illness
Detailed Answer:
Good evening
thank you for your reply
Well since the duration is quite acute, there is a possibility the muscle inflammation is due to viral infection causing pain and muscle inflammation. The weakness can be attributed to it as well. Considering he is on prednisolone for ITP, it tends to lower the immunity making him prone to infection.
SLE is an autoimmune condition, also known as lupus. It is a common cause of ITP.
I would recommend you to try some Anti inflammatory medications like aclofenac or naprosyn. Ask him to refrain from doing any heavy exertion. Also get the Levels of Complete Blood count, liver function tests, ESR, CRP and the muscle Enzymes( CPK, LDH and Aldolase).
Any indication for strong medications may not be needed as it just a day old. But we would like to see how much is the inflammation.
hope the information was useful
