Toddler Has White Bumps Inside Both Cheeks. Is This Normal Or Canker Sores?
Question: My toddler has white bumps inside both cheeks that look like cankor sores. He says he's been biting his cheeks but I'm not sure. It's really more of two white patches with one bump on left side. It does look like he's chewed. It reminds me of my own cheeks after a biting incident, is this normal in toddlers? He's almost 3.
Hi XXXXXXX.
Thanks for your query.
Your child must be having aphthous ulcer(canker sore.)
They are usually caused by.
-Trauma .
-Vitamin deficiency,
-Genetic predisposition is also seen.
They are usually self limiting and heal spontaneously in 7 to 10 days.
I suggest you to ;
-Apply local benzocaine gel with cotton 3 to 4 times a day.before meals.
-Give him plenty of fluids.
-Give him vitamin syrup(especially vit B12 and C).
-Toothbrush to be used gently.
Hope i have answered your query,if you have any question i would like to answer.
Wishing your child good health.
God bless.

I don't think he's vitamin deficient. I don't give multi but well balanced mostly organic diet. His dad gets cankers frequently. Spots feel hardish to touch but no pain complaint. If he keeps biting will they not heal? Could it have become habit? Lips and tongue are clear.
Hi.
Thanks again.
Relax,if there is no pain .
Try to distracts him whenever you see him biting because most of times it becomes habit and toddlers do it for fun sake.
Is there any sharp tooth as it also leads to recurrent trauma.
