What Are The Antigen Titer Values Of Salmonella Typhi And S.paratyphi In A Healthy Person?

Kindly view the details
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Thanks for your query.
Salmonella typhi and S. paratyphi are obligate infections of a human being.
In case of infections (Typhoid/ Enteric fever), their presence can be detected by various investigation modalities, such as: Blood culture, Serology (Widal test), Stool examination, Urine examination, etc.
In your post, you have not mentioned regarding the investigation modality carried out.
Considering that you are referring to Widal test, the result is considered positive only when TO antigen titer is more than 1:160 in case of an active infection, or when TH antigen titer is more than 1:160 in an immunized person or one with a past infection.
So, in normal person without a past history of infection or immunization to Salmonella typhi and paratyphi, the values of antigen titer will be less than 1:160.
Wishing you a good health.
Please let us know if I need to clarify further.
Take care.
