I had fever for five days in December,2011 last week Doctor got my blood test done (typhoid malaria and dengu) but all reports were negative My fever continued . I had 100.5 fever. I was hospitalisd on seventh day and administered monocef 2gms twice a day. On 5th day of my medicine I was not having fever and I was given monocef for total 7 days and zifi 400 gm twice a day for another seven days. Doctor said I had enteric fever. My question is whether I had typohid and what are the side effects of monocef injection.

Hi,

Based on the history you seemed to have enteric fever which responded to the given antibiotics.

Monocef (injection) and Zifi (tablets) are commonly prescribed to treat enteric fever caused by susceptible bacteria.

TheTheir common side effects include diarrhea, abdominal pain and allergic skin rash.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
