Question: I have recently had my implanon removed, I have gotten my first period since the removal yesterday and since then I have had server cramps, heavy bleeding and I have not been able to sleep because I am in so much pain. Brief Answer:
Symptoms are because of hormonal imbalance

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Birth Control pills/implants alters the normal hormonal levels of the body. When one starts or stops it then body takes some time to adjust the hormone levels back to normal. All your symptoms are because of this disturbance and it will take some time to settle. An important aggravating factor of Migraine is birth control pills/implants. I would suggest you to wait and observe. Meanwhile symptomatic treatment will help you improve the symptoms:

- sumatriptan at an initial dose of 25 mg for migraine.
- Naproxen can also be taken for pain
- Take lots of fluids( water, juices)
- Take Metronidazole thrice a day for 5 days
- Take ecobion sachets once a day

Hopefully you will observe improvement in 2-3 days BUT if condition does not improve or aggravates then you need to visit hospital immediately for further workup.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

I am still awake in unbearable pain with this period. A family friend has told me there is a prescribed tablet to help reduceh the heavy bleeding. Are you able to supply a script? and also a medical certificate as I do not feel fit to work - or should I see my GP in regards to this.
