I have gained some weights over last 5-6 months. The gain is not drastic . I stopped exercises and was eating lot of junk and hence I gained around 5-6 kgs over 5-6 months. And my period flow has reduced for past 5-6 months. But becomes regular whenever I start exercising.
I don't have any other symptoms.
I am just worried because My mother is diagnosed with thyroid last year.
Do you suggest me to get my thyroid checked . I did go through complete body check-up along with thyroid test in April 2015.It was normal at that time.

Brief Answer:
thyroid profile testing is recommended.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX hi!
weight gain is a very non specific feature and as you have already mentioned you have been on wrong diet and exercise plan. but as you have a very strong family history, and changes in your menstrual pattern as well, it is recommended that you check your thyroid profile annually. Once you must check your antibody profile as well. so you must see TSH/FT4, TPO and TGA antibodies.
