What Caues Black And Blue Discoloration Around Ankles?

Question: When you turn black and blue around ankle and up leg plus swelling by night but down in the morning what is it?? The Foot Dr. said it is some kind of IRON VEIN or that the vein is leaking but nothing to do about it except to get some support hose. The patient is 32 yrs. old male and works at a mill. Where could I take him next?? This doesn't make sense.

She did not think that it was varicose veins. He does have Factor 5 Lidden Blood Disease and takes one adult asperin a day also he has had 2 strokes. He is 6 2 and weighes 320. She said his work boots was irritating it. He got calf length boots and his old ones were angle length and they didn't bother it. Thanks for your time!! XXXX
