What Causes A Painful Swelling Behind The Neck In A Fibromyalgia Patient?

Painful swelling in neck back / Under Evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM .
Read and reviewed your query and health concerns.
My opinion-
In the given situation-You seem to suffer from-C7 Vertebral Spine, which is painful from many causes at this age.Commonest is Cervical Spondylosis, other causes need to be ruled out.
In view of the bony knot around which swelling is there,Cervical spondylosis needs to be ruled out.Acute soft disc / or chronic hard disc swelling/ or hypertrophied post joint needs to be kept in mind.It could be from osteoporosis with dowager's hump.
Do's suggested-
Hot fomentation with infra red radiation lamp,
Anti-inflammtaory- like ibuprofen x 400 mg x 2-3 times a day x 1 week.
Tab Vit D3 with Calcium.
Get stool Ova/ Cyst to rule out GI cause of fibromyalgia and treat it with cover from family doctor.
For this you need consult with attending Orthopedic Surgeon who would investigate the above causes to resolve this health issue.
Further suggestions in this regard would need more information /investigations after getting more details from you.
This brief reply is given on facts submitted, which needs to be verified from your attending doctors, with whom you can check before starting further changes in the treatment.
Hope this would help you to plan further of this complex illness of yours.
