Question: Hi, im a 24 year old male. Lately ive been having this recurring rash around my anus. Usually it lasts about a week then dissappears, but a week later it will return. The skin just turns red and there lumps or bumps as far as I can tell. Its more of a burning pain than a stabbing pain. Was wondering if you would have any ideas what could be causing this?

Brief Answer:
Need investigation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Do you have anal itch as well?
Recurrent perianal rash with lumps and bumps need investigation. Piles, fistula also have bumps.
THere could be parasitic infection or contact dermatitis to the detergent of the undergarment or toiler paper. In fact there are other conditions of the anus and colon that accompany with anal rash like piles, fistula, colitis.

Therefore it is important to look at the rash, check if there are any other accompanying problems, stool test for parasites. I think it is good to see a primary care provider first. Importantly stop scratching it and apply calamine lotion and over the counter hydrocortisone over it in case you have a delayed appointment at doctor's office.

Let me know if you have other concerns.
