Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The symptoms you reported seem like an infection / colitis to me. I will order for investigations - complete hemogram and stool tests as the next step of action. Your primary doctor will know about it. If preliminary tests come up normal, I would start you on antimotility drugs such as loperamide 4mg twice a day for 2-3 days.
As you plan the tests, you should start probiotics including yoghurts. Those help in treating infective gut conditions. You can also try peptobismol (if you have no specific allergies - aspirin allergy) for abdominal pains. Drink plenty of fluids. Oral rehydration solution are good hydrating fluid.
Avoid spicy food,junk food,heavy meals.
Eat small meals.
Avoid alcohol and restrict hot beverages like coffee, tea.
You have mentioned you will spit up food. Perhaps it may be related to acid reflux. Therefore along with the aforementioned drugs you can also take omeprazole (prilosec) OTC once a day half an hour before breakfast for 3-4 weeks.
I expect you to be better with this treatment. But if symptoms persist, further investigation including endoscopy/colonoscopy will be required.
If your symptoms persist or if your symptoms do not improve after 2 weeks time,I would suggest you to visit your Gastroenterology doctor.
Hope I have answered your question.
If you have any questions I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.
