What Causes An Incomplete Colonoscopy In An Elderly Person?
Question: I had a colonoscopy yesterday due to changes in my bowel movements(72 year old). The doctor told me that he could not complete the colonoscopy because part of my bowel, was not clear, although I had followed instructions. The doctor requested a follow up colonoscopy in one month using a more aggressive preparation ( 2 day prep). Should I be worried?
Brief Answer:
no need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I am sorry to hear that you had a colonoscopy and that it was not complete due to inadequate prep. This happens all the time. It is not your fault at all. Sometimes the standard prep is not enough to fully clean out a person's colon. This next time just do the two day prep as outlined and your will be fine. As I said early this happens all the time and is not indicative of any cancer or other colon issue.
I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
