Question: I constantly wake up with my left ear feeling blocked. It usually dissipates after an hour or so, usually with me manipulating my ear to get it to "pop". How can I avoid this condition?

Brief Answer:
Eustachian tube dysfunction

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you have problems with your ear pressure in the AM. This is called eustachian tube dysfunction and related to the pressure release valve not equalizing pressure until you pop the ear. You maybe able to avoid this by using an antihistamine at night before bed or a nasal steroid like flonase before bed. This sill help reduce the swelling in the eustachian tube and help with keep the pressure equal.

I hope this answers your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
