What Causes Brittle Nails In A Person With Hyperthyroidism?

Question: I have a nail that is coming away from my nail bed. I have been diagnosed and treated for subclinical hyperthyroidism four months ago but the nail hasn't changed. It seems to be getting worse. I started going to a manicurist for gel nails every three weeks and wearing nail polish. Is this hurting the recovery? Should I be doing someting else to help the treatment process?
Brief Answer:
COULD BE FUNGAL INFECTION.
Detailed Answer:
Good day
noted your concern. Hyperthyroidism can cause bone resorption and loose nails. Fungal infection is another reason for nail fall. Please meet a podiatrist who can examine and scrape your nail and send for fungal culture. In the interim, it is better to avoid manicure.
