What Causes Bump On Penis?
Question: So I have this single bump on the shaft of my penis. It's about pencil eraser size and has been there for quite a while and has remained unchanged...I had genital warts 25 years ago which resolved on theyre own very quickly (3 weeks or so) I had several partners since without incident...this bump showed up about a year ago maybe a little less. I showed it to a family doctor who dismissed it as an anomaly and he stated that it's not a wart. After I moved to another state I got set up with another doctor who also said he didn't think it was anything but sent me to a urologist to be sure. The urologist said he wasnt sure what it was but that it had some features that could be an early condyloma so he decided to treat it like one.
Here is the question, how likely is it that a single long term unchanged bump is condyloma? If it were an early condyloma, how contagious is it?

I am so sorry to hear this bump and all the inconveniences this has caused you. It would be very unlikely to have been a condyloma that remained unchanged for several years. I will also like to have a look at this to see what it is. I am sure this treatment is for you to have a settled mind and not really because the doctors think it is a condyloma. I cannot conclude on the infectivity would be unless I have a suspicion for this and see the nature of the surface of this bump.

I sent the image. The bump has been there for about a year maybe a bit less but it was unchanged the whole time. The urologist has me putting on podofilox twice per day and I've done this 5 days in a row. The bump turned gray and hard but the surrounding skin is very raw from the medicine as you can see. Is this an early condyloma as he has said or some thing else? How contagious is that single bump and for how long?
The doctor didn't confirm it as condyloma but given my history 25 years ago he is treating it as such. He just said that it could be but he wasn't sure

This in itself is not so suggestive of a wart. However, with no idea as to what the specific cause is, a trial of treatment as wart would be a good way to evaluate as well. If it regresses, the it was probably a wart and if not, at least we would have know that it is not a wart and we would consider other measures to take care of this growth.
If it were a wart, it would be contagious on contact. However, we are not there yet as the exact cause remains unclear to us.
