What Causes Burning Sensation In Feet While On Eliquis?
Question: My mother who is 94 and is on Eliquis for her heart. Her feet at night (not during the day only at night) have a burning sensation. She does not have diabetes. One doctor has told her it is due to nerves in her feet. The burning sensation is now keeping her up at night. The intensity of the burning sensation seems to change by different weather conditions.

But there are rather a lot of things that can cause it.
There are predominantly nerve things (b12 deficiency, thiamine deficiency, heavy metal toxicity) and secondarily nerve things from other diseases that also affect the nerves (diabetes is the most common and thyroid disease).
getting the other diseases controlled is very important.
THen, on the sensation, every nerve pill with BOTH damp down the pain AND also damp down the nerves. This can cause sedation and/or confusion. Amitryptiline, gabapentin and other seizure medicines, and cymbalta and other spinal blocking medicines and lidocaine and other anaesthetics all can lower burning pain.
