default
Posted on Wed, 9 Mar 2016
Question: I woke up this morning feeling a bit off. I have felt dizzy and light-headed and have had bouts of nausea come and go all day. My arms and hands are numb. They have that pins and needles feeling, like when your arm falls asleep. My back is stiff and sore. I have chronic back pain, but it hasn't happened like this before. I guess I don't really know what to do.

Brief Answer:
Neurological consulting.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

Since there are previous health issues related to vertebral column condition, first thing that needs an evaluation is extended spine problems at cervical spine, that may result in pins and needles feeling in hands.

Nausea also could be related to dizziness that may be another feature of cervical spine issues.

Another possible explanation of your symptoms may be peripheral neuropathy, a condition where peripheral nerves are damaged by several factors including vitamin B12 deficiency, side effectd of drugs, alcohol, viral infections etc.

As a first step in achieving a correct diagnosis is neurological examination, and appropriate tests guided by neurological findings.

So, I suggest you to consult a Neurologist and discuss your concerns.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
