What Causes Chronic High BP?
Blood pressure-lowering agents
Detailed Answer:
Greetings, sir. Welcome to HCM and thank you for your question. I understand your concern.
Blood pressure figures, especially for men above 45 years old, should be kept under 140/90 mmHg. This is the cut-off, because it is believed that figures above these, when longstanding and regular, might pose certain organ systems to various dangers.
I would recommend that these blood pressure figures are to be brought under control, to the figures provided above. I would not recommend any herbal remedy for this cause. However, I would recommend a beta-blocker (atenolol, metoprolol) or verapamil or diltiazem (from the calcium channel blockers), because these classes, not only help in controlling the blood pressure, but also slow the heart rhythm, which means they decrease the heart's workload. Feel free to discuss these options with your cardiologist.
I hope I was of help. I am glad to help, if you have further questions. Please rate my answer, if you do not.
My best regards,
Dr. Meriton
