Brief Answer:
It may take 5-6 days for the stool to get back to its normal pattern

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

I can understand your concern.

Entameba coli is one of the normal inhabitants of intestine. As it is not pathogenic,it's presence in stool does not warrant any specific treatment.

Most common cause of loose stool in this age is some viral infection.

The main aim of management of loose stool is to provide adequate fluids to replace the fluid loss and to avoid the dehydration.

Zinc(ezinc) and probiotics(erceflora and pedialite) helps in early recovery.

During viral infection there is loss of absorptive inner layer of intestine. It takes 5-7 days in regeneration of the epithelial layer. Thus it may take 5-7 days for the stool to get back to its normal pattern.

I won't get overly worried if baby is active, accepting feeds well and passing urine.

I suggest you to give him plenty of fluids along with zinc and probiotic and to consult your doctor if the baby starts vomiting, gets lethargic and in case of poor oral acceptance or decreased urinary frequency.

I hope this helps.

I shall be glad to answer if you have any more doubts.

Wishing for your baby's speedy recovery.
Regards
